Sorting of Junk mail... :D... I work there some years back. Level 7 Maintenance Mechanic... I kind of remember the Alpha , Baker and Charlie belts incoming separated Military and/or International... sacks and Packages. Sorting junk mail, makes such a huge facility sound so comical. 3 stories of catwalks and six miles of conveyors... Don't even remember how many docks there are. Not to mention all the Machinery... That place was like a mini city! Was cool to work there. Kinda miss it

Former location of the Adachi Nursery, which opened in 1905 and was possibly the first Japanese-owned nursery to open in this area. Photo #1 shows how it looked in 1940.

I took the single-track dirt trail off the Bay Trail (just north of the Pt. Isabelle dog park parking lot) to explore this area recently. Lots and lots of glass along the way. There is a fenced-off area where toxic waste was buried (Liquid Gold asphalt company). My friend and I wanted to see what this bowl area was after looking at the satellite maps on google, and it is clearly an old shooting range. There are numerous homeless encampments in that area, and we saw a couple hypodermic needles where we happened to stop. Not recommended for casual exploring.
